7 Incredible Ways A FYFTT Can Change Your Life

Even if you aren’t planning on teaching, read the 7 ways below, and open yourself up to possibility. You never know where your practice could lead you...

1. Serving others – Through a FYFTT, you begin to sculpt the first few pillars of your passion in life. You start to realize that helping others is far more rewarding than you ever thought.

2. Truly living in this world – A FYFTT awakens something inside of us that’s been dormant for far too long.

3. Advancing your asana practice – Your asana practice improves as you take a step back and learn proper alignment and safety for yourself and your potential students.

4. Being part of The Hoop (The Forrest Yoga network) – There is no support system quite like the one you weave together in a FYTT, and the best part is that you have that support long after training is done.

5. Creating connection – Being a teacher does not entail showing up and reciting a sequence of poses. It means to look at a student in their current state and help them where they’ve given up.

6. Letting go of what no longer serves us We learn to let go. Our teachers are prime examples of what liberation begins to looks like when you’re no longer striving to have things or people, and it looks pretty awesome.

7. Finding yourself – You’re finally doing something for yourself. It’s not about your family, your kids, your spouse, or your friends. It’s all about you, and it feels incredible to give yourself the same amount of attention and care you’ve been giving to others.

Still not sure you can do this? We have a story for you.

“I did the Forrest Yoga teacher training in 2006 because I had enjoyed the 3 intensives I had done so much that I wanted to learn more. I had experienced how deep, powerful, and healing Forrest Yoga was. I didn't think that I would ever teach yoga, and about half of my teacher training class thought that too. But we all left the training excited to teach. I went from being afraid and miserable whenever I had to speak in front of people to being a confident and compassionate yoga teacher. The teacher training experience was the beginning of waking up for me, it launched me onto a path of finding my truth and my power.

I am now also a massage therapist and life coach. As I went through the training for those fields, I was reminded of how many valuable things beyond yoga that I had learned from Forrest Yoga: the importance of language, how to be precise and choose words that are healing and encouraging; how to lead in a way that creates space for the others to find their own answers; and how to invite people to do something rather than direct or push them.

And the Forrest Yoga abdominal exercises are the most profound core strengthening work I have experienced. They have kept me injury-free and make me better at all the other activities that I do. I am so happy to have found Forrest Yoga, thank you Ana for bringing this to the world!” —Past Teacher Training Student
